Accessibility

The Pretrial Services Agency for the District of Columbia (PSA) is committed to providing access to all individuals seeking information from PSA.gov. All information on our website and downloadable documents are created in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 794d), as amended in 1998.

Section 508 requires that all individuals with disabilities (whether federal government employees or members of the general public) have equal access to and use of information as individuals without disabilities unless an undue burden would be imposed. The Section 508 standards are the technical requirements and criteria that are used to measure conformance within this law.

More information on Section 508 and the technical standards can be found at www.section508.gov.

Reasonable Accommodation (Section 501)

Under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), (Federal Executive branch agencies follow the Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act, as amended, which aligns with the ADA), a reasonable accommodation (RA) is a modification or adjustment to a job, the work environment, or the way things are usually done during the hiring process. These modifications enable an individual with a disability to have an equal opportunity not only to obtain a job but also to successfully perform their job duties to the same extent as people without disabilities.

Are your buildings accessible?

PSA is committed to the accessibility of its facilities for its employees and members of the public. The Access Board is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the ABA and providing accessibility standards.

What is the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS)

Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) allow persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, or have speech disabilities to communicate by telephone essentially in the same way that persons without such disabilities do.

For general information on this topic, please visit the Federal Communications Commission’s TRS website. For information specific to TRS in the District of Columbia, including an updated list of the relevant phone numbers, please visit the FCC’s DC TRS webpage.
